If you are unable to visit the Library because of health or mobility issues, trained volunteers will select, deliver, and exchange materials on your behalf.

Visiting Library Service (VLS) FAQ

Who can use the Visiting Library Service?
Any Fort Erie community member (any resident of Fort Erie, Ridgeway, and Stevensville) who is unable to visit the library in person due to age, disability, or illness.
What material can I borrow?
Any circulating materials that have a three-week loan time. This includes regular and large print books, audiobooks, magazines, and CDs.
How does the Visiting Library Service work?

Anyone eligible can either fill out a Visiting Library Service Application Form on our website, come in person, or call the library directly for assistance in applying.

The Visiting Library Service Application Form will ask questions about contact information, preferred contact method(s), and other preferences (e.g. how many books they’d like each month, preferred genres, what time of day they’d prefer the books be delivered, etc.).

Once registered, Library staff will pick out materials based on the patron’s preferences.

Once a month, a library volunteer or staff member will visit the patron at their home to pick up materials and/or deliver new materials.

Who can volunteer?

Any Fort Erie community member who has access to their own transportation and passes a Vulnerable Sector Check. They must fill out a Visting Library Service Volunteer application form.
