ZAVITZ Merritt Christian Zavitz, 3812 Rebstock Rd., Crystal Beach and formerly of Sherkston, died at Port Colborne General Hospital Nov. 9, 1983.
Born in Sherkston Dec. 26, 1904 Mr. Zavitz was a farmer, spending his life in Sherkston, and farmed until nine years ago when he moved to Crystal Beach.
He is survived by his wife, Candace (Reinhart); two sons, Gary of Sherkston and Glenn of Welland; three daughters: Arlene Zavitz of Niagara Falls, Elaine (Mrs. Gary Warren) of Crystal Beach, Janice (Mrs. Ronald Hudd) of Milton.
Also surviving are two sisters, Ethel (Mrs. Fred Fox) of Port Colborne and May (Mrs. John Fretz) of Ridgeway.
The Rev. Larry Beverly officiated the funeral service Friday, Nov. 11 at Grace United Brethren in Christ Church. The Williams Funeral Home in Ridgeway handled the arrangements.
Pallbearers were Glenn Zavitz Jr., Terry Zavitz, Brad Hudd, Arthur Storm, Cliff Fretz, and Carson Reinhart.
