YOUNG, Douglas John At Northland Pointe on Thursday December 27, 2007 after a long illness, at the age of 76 Doug is survived by Jackie, his loving wife of 52 years, his children Lorna and Steven, daughter-inlaw Kathy Young (nee Lee) and grandson Eric Young, Predeceased by mother Orpha (Dolly) Frances Young (nee Belfield) and father Charles Young, In 1954 Doug graduated from McMaster University with a B.A. As the former owner of Young Lumber & Supplies, he became the President of the Lumber and Building Materials Association of Ontario in 1981 and 1982. He was a leader in his community and held a variety of offices within the Lions Club, including President of the Ridgeway Club and Zone Chairman. In 1968 he was acclaimed to the Bertie Township Council and he continued to serve as a councilor for the Town of Fort Erie until 1980. He was an avid golfer and was President of Cherry Hill Club in 1993-1996. Funeral services were conducted in the chapel of THE WILLIAMS FUNERAL HOME 722 on Thursday afternoon at one o'clock. Interment took place in Ridgeway Memorial Cemetery Memorial donations were directed to Northland Pointe Auxiliary, 2 Fielden Ave. Port Colborne, ON L2N1L5 or to the Alzheimer Society, Catharines Branch, 403 Ontario L2N 1L5
